SuperCom Awarded $7 Million National Electronic Monitoring Project in Sweden

Sweden Marks Tenth New Country to Select SuperCom's PureSecurity Electronic Monitoring Suite Since 2016

HERZLIYA, Israel, April 23, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SuperCom (NASDAQ:SPCB), a global provider of secure solutions for the e-government, public safety, healthcare, and finance sectors, was awarded a USD $7 million project with the national government of Sweden to deploy its PureSecurity Electronic Monitoring (EM) Suite.

Sweden has been a pioneer in Electronic Monitoring for public safety programs in Europe, with initial probation programs dating back to 1994 and their launch of the first inmate monitoring program in 2004. The nationwide program is set to cover all prison and probation EM offender programs within the country, including approximately 1,000 simultaneous enrollees and four prison facilities during the first phase of the contract, with an option for further expansion in the future. The initial deployment will include the following PureSecurity offerings: home detention, GPS tracking of offenders, alcohol monitoring and inmate monitoring. This is perhaps the first deployment planned to fully integrate traditional EM with inmate monitoring in a seamless way, providing continuous tracking of offenders while they are in prison and as they are away from the facilities during short-term releases.

The award was won through a formal bid process. Five companies took part in the bidding process, including the long-term incumbent and current EM vendor for Sweden. The process included several rounds of negotiations in addition to multiple system demonstrations and tests by the contracting authority. Under the terms of the award, the value of the contract, based on the government’s internal budgeting, is approximately USD $7 million, spread over a term of seven and a half years. Revenues recognized by SuperCom will depend on actual usage levels. The budget consists mainly of costs for leasing the EM system and equipment, as well as recurring maintenance charges. SuperCom expects to deploy the initial order and start generating recurring revenues within five months of project launch.

This award will go through the customary standstill waiting period before contract signing is approved and the project is launched. We expect to provide further information on such in follow up announcements.

“Our newest win in Sweden is a significant benchmark for SuperCom as it signifies the tenth country to select our PureSecurity Electronic Monitoring technology since 2016,” commented company President and CEO Arie Trabelsi. “We are excited to have been selected by one of the pioneers of Electronic Monitoring in Europe for such an innovative and technologically advanced program which includes novel use cases not yet utilized by electronic monitoring in public safety. This selection is another signal that some of the most advanced and evolved EM countries around the globe, both in Europe and throughout the developed world are turning to SuperCom’s technology to support their public safety efforts. This also reflects a greater overall shift to a more modernized, effective approach towards alternatives to incarceration and an emphasis on offenders’ successful re-entry into society. Our current and upcoming EM deployments have been serving as strong reference points and provide concrete validation of the effectiveness of our proprietary EM technology, which we believe will support additional wins in the future.”
