SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, DART announced a partnership with PayNearMe®, a service of Handle Financial, that enables DART customers who use its popular GoPass app to pay for their DART, Trinity Metro, Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) and Trinity Railway Express (TRE) trips with cash at more than 8,000 locations across the U.S. Through the partnership, customers can pay with cash at any of the PayNearMe network retailers, including trusted brands such as 7-Eleven®, Family Dollar® and ACE Cash Express.

In 2013, the original DART transit payment app changed the way customers purchased transit passes on their smartphone with a credit or debit card. Now, for customers who do not have credit or debit cards, a major new feature is the ability to load value to the GoPass app with cash at hundreds of DFW Metroplex area retail locations. Simply present the barcode on your phone, pay the cashier and you are on your way! You can locate a participating retailer in the PayNearMe network directly in the app.

The app also contains a GoPass Wallet that stores value that can be used to purchase tickets. The cost of a ticket purchased using the GoPass app is the same as a ticket purchased from a ticket vending machine or bus farebox and must be activated before boarding any bus or train. GoPass is free to download or update from the Google Play store or the Apple App Store.
