Bureau of Cannabis Control and Local City Council Clears High Times to Make the 2018 NorCal Cannabis Cup the Second Ever Event in the Nation Where Marijuana Can be Bought, Sold, and Consumed In Accordance with State Laws

Phil Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band, Blues Traveler and G. Love and Special Sauce To Perform at Historic Event

Sonoma, California, May 24, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Just weeks after the City of Sacramento elected to provide High Times with the approval needed to host the first state-sanctioned recreational cannabis event, the industry leader is announcing the nations second event of this type at Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, California.

The recreational event, as sanctioned by the City of Santa Rosa and the California Bureau of Cannabis Control, allows citizens of legal consumption age, to legally buy, sell and consume marijuana at the ticketed event.

High Times, Marijuana’s iconic global brand, will play host to the event, taking place June 2 and 3rd on the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Sonoma, CA, just weeks after producing the nations first event of this kind. The brand, which has an almost 45 year history at the forefront of the legalization movement, has become a guiding light to the greater industry, working with city and state officials to set the standards for events of this type.

“We couldn’t be more excited to host the nation’s second state-sanctioned Cannabis event, especially so soon after our successful pilot in Sacramento” said Adam Levin, CEO of High Times. “We’re not just proving that events like this are safe and enjoyable, but also the economic and social benefits they can provide for these communities. We look forward to producing these legal, recreational events in more locales state, and eventually, nationwide.”

According to the Bureau of Cannabis Control’s post on Facebook last month, these licenses are “the result of lots of hard work, collaboration and communication with local officials... and the event organizers.”

In years past, High Times events in California have focused on Prop. 215, the 1996 initiative that legalized medicinal marijuana in the state. While allowing Cannabis exhibitors to provide samples to medicinal patients at these events, attendees without medical marijuana prescriptions were blocked from receiving such samples. This upcoming Cannabis Cup event marks only the second time in history that state and local regulators have approved an event that legally allows all adult attendees to receive and consume Cannabis-based samples.

The Sonoma Cannabis Cup also features notable musical acts, including the Grateful Dead’s Phil Lesh and his Terrapin Family Band, Blues Traveller, Arrested Development, & G.Love and Special Sauce.

Other offerings at the event include seminars, a high-touch exhibitor village featuring dozens of companies, live art murals, a food truck village and much else celebrating the Cannabis lifestyle.

High Times has been staging Cannabis Cup events for three decades. This year, High Times has already set Cannabis Cup gatherings for Amsterdam and Clio, Mich., with many more to be announced in the coming weeks. In all, the company holds over a dozen Cannabis Cup and other live events a year, in Europe, the United States, Canada. The events each draw tens of thousands of attendees, gathering to celebrate the Cannabis lifestyle, music and products.

Early Bird GA and VIP Tickets for the NorCal Cannabis Cup are still available at CannabisCup.com, with increased pricing available at the box office.
