BATON ROUGE, La., June 06, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Amedisys, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMED), one of the nation’s leading home healthcare, hospice and personal care companies, received an average rating of 4.30 Stars out of a possible 5 for Quality of Patient Care across its home health care centers from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) April Star Ratings release.
This new average rating, which represents the tenth consecutive quarter of gains for Amedisys, is 32 percent above the national average. A total of 201 care centers achieved a rating of 4.5 Stars or higher, 54 of which received 5 Stars.

According to the April release, 89 percent of Amedisys home health care centers received a 4-Star or higher rating compared to 75 percent one year ago. The CMS July Preview puts that number at 93 percent with the average rating climbing to 4.38 Stars.

According to CMS, its Home Health Compare website is designed to be a key tool for consumers to choose a home health provider – an “easy-to-access, convenient source of authoritative information on provider quality.” In 2015, CMS added to its reporting system a one-to-five Star Rating to “summarize” 24 measures of provider performance such as “timely initiation of care” and “improvement in ambulation.”
