CKO Kickboxing Honors A Member With The First CKO Humanitarian Award

Hoboken, NJ, June 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CKO Kickboxing, the famous full-body cardio-kickboxing workout brand that has been seen all over different media outlets lately, made headlines yet again by honoring one of it's members with the very first CKO Humanitarian Award.

The award recipient, Lauren Mortenson of CKO Kickboxing in Edison, New Jersey, had an impressive weight loss story after losing 100 pounds with the help of her CKO community. However, Lauren received the CKO Humanitarian award for her selfless decision of donating her kidney in an unprecedented "donor swap" with Saint Barnabas Medical Center. The donor swap chain grew to 23 donors and has the potential to grow even larger. The program is currently the largest living donor kidney transplant chain by a single hospital.

To quote Lauren, "Think of a donor swap as: I’ll donate to your person if you donate to mine. I spent the summer and fall preparing my body and mind for possible surgery. My CKO Kickboxing Edison team led the way with encouragement and constant support as I battled difficult days, impatience, and the desire to push as hard as I could."

Joseph Andreula, CEO and founder of CKO Kickboxing, explained, "CKO is about building a future where we all celebrate one another and every achievement made. We are more than just a gym, we are a community and Lauren Mortenson represents how we are all able to help the world be a better, stronger, and more unified place. That's the message behind CKO and why we continue to grow each and every day."

Lauren was presented with the CKO Humanitarian Award by the company's Franchisee Advisory Council, consisting of eight CKO franchisees from across the United States, and the corporate staff. She was invited to the company's corporate hub, CKO Hoboken, and surprised with the honor on June 28th, 2018.

CKO Kickboxing gyms across the nation and Canada are known for their one hour, high energy, fat-burning classes. Each member has their own heavy bag and works at their own pace while the trainer calls out combinations keyed to the exciting music. Every class is never the same twice and the trainers all have their own styles making classes even more unique and exciting for everyone involved. CKO Kickboxing is notorious for helping people achieve weight loss and lifetime goals while helping communities and people like Lauren Mortenson bring their best to the world each day.
