Southern Careers Institute Unveils Redesigned Cosmetology Program at San Antonio South Campus

Texas-based trade school enriches curriculum for cosmetology students to gain hands-on training experience at remodeled Southern Star Salon

SAN ANTONIO, July 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Southern Careers Institute (SCI), a Texas-based career education provider, announced today the introduction of its redesigned Cosmetology program at the San Antonio South campus. The curriculum offered at SCI’s Southern Star Salon enriches the learning environment for students with first-hand preparation towards a cosmetology career. SCI is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 17, 2018, at 1 p.m. to re-open the doors to its remodeled student-run salon on the San Antonio South campus.

SCI’s enhanced curriculum for aspiring cosmetology professionals comprises educational resources and practical experience needed to enter the beauty industry. The 50-week program has enrollees immerse themselves in the cosmetology field, while instructors provide insights to educate students on current industry practices for hair cutting, hair coloring, skin and nail care.

“The redesigned Cosmetology program is tailored to instruct and guide students to become proficient at executing the latest salon service techniques,” says Jacob Mayhew, CEO of SCI. “The comprehensive program enables students to learn within a salon setting by practicing hands-on applications to hone their abilities to begin a cosmetology profession.”

The curricula covers a wide-range of topics in the beauty industry to obtain hands-on training, while gaining an in-depth understanding of salon management, health and safety procedures, and cosmetology sciences. Graduates of the course are prepared to enter the cosmetology industry as a cosmetologist, stylist, cosmetologist operator, hair stylist, and sales or marketing specialist with a cosmetic retailer or beauty salon. As part of the educational offerings of the course, students are taught the business components required to effectively own and operate a salon or spa.

Students of SCI’s Cosmetology program are imparted with the aptitude and knowledge to take the licensure exam through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) to receive their Cosmetology license.

The Cosmetology program at SCI’s San Antonio South campus is currently enrolling. SCI is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony at the campus (238 SW Military Dr., San Antonio, TX 78221) on July 17 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. where individuals can learn more about the Cosmetology program and receive complimentary salon services.
