Engineering Team Partners with Florida Department of Transportation to Address Future Transportation Needs Across Southwest Florida

Scalar and Arcadis to Assess and Recommend Transportation Improvements and Increased Mobility Across District 1

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo., July 25, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Scalar Consulting Group Inc. and Arcadis today announced a coalition that will team with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to identify transportation improvements that increase mobility throughout FDOT District 1, focusing on corridors between Bartow and Naples.

As part of the five-year district-wide contract, the project team will assess current conditions and needs for motorists, cyclists, transit users, and pedestrians across all transportation corridors and travel modes by examining operational and physical aspects as well as the surrounding land use patterns and other impacts.

The two companies will conduct a variety of services in adherence with the National Environment Policy Act (NEPA) and FDOT regulations, considering possible social, cultural, natural and physical environmental impacts.  The team will then recommend the best approach that addresses future population growth, economic impacts and project needs.

“We are excited to work with both Scalar and FDOT District 1 to address the explosive growth we are seeing across this region through increased mobility and improving the existing transportation infrastructure,” said Bill Evans, Florida area leader, Arcadis.  “Simply put, improvements to relieve congestion on our highways are essential, along with expanded non-motorist mobility and complete street options to accommodate bikes, pedestrians and transit that complement each community’s existing infrastructure.”

“Scalar is committed to helping improve mobility and safety as part of all the transportation projects we design, build and manage across the state of Florida,” said Aniruddha Gotmare, project manager, Scalar.  “We look forward to working closely with Arcadis and FDOT to develop solid recommendations to improve transportation and mobility in an environmentally sound fashion compatible with life in southwest Florida.”
