Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs and other celebrities to appear at the next EGLX Gaming Expo, to be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from Oct 26 – 28, 2018

EGLX to feature two high profile esports competitions: Canada Cup (Fighting Game) Championships and the World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) National Qualifying Finals

TORONTO, Aug. 01, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canada’s largest video game expo returns this fall with Enthusiast Gaming Live Expo (EGLX) scheduled to take place from Friday, October 26th – Sunday October 28th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.  EGLX has hosted the largest and most diverse lineup of games, publishers, sponsors and developers in Canada, with a huge increase in attendees in recent years, culminating in the move to the largest convention facility in Canada. Single admission, weekend and family passes are now available online at www.eglx.ca and at the door during the expo.

“Moving to the larger venue was important to provide gamers and spectators the ability to experience all that this event has to offer. Gamers will be able to get their hands on all of the big holiday titles and perhaps even get a chance to play against and meet NHL star Mitch Marner,” said Menashe Kestenbaum, Founder and CEO of Enthusiast Gaming.

As part of this exciting growth, EGLX will also become the destination for two massive esports events, with the addition of Canada Cup 2018 and World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) both holding tournaments on the show floor.

Canada Cup has grown into one of the nation’s largest fighting game tournaments, with participants going head-to-head in DragonBall FighterZ, Super Smash Bros.: WiiU/Melee, Street Fighter V Arcade Edition, Hearthstone and many more.  Check out www.canada-cup.ca for a full list of titles.

WESG, operated by WorldGaming Network in partnership with Alisports (a division of Alibaba), is entering its 3rd year as the only Olympics-format esports competition in the world. With players and teams competing to represent their home countries, WESG boasts one of the largest esports prize pools in the world at over $5.5 million dollars. The WESG Canadian national qualifying finals will be held at EGLX and players will compete in some of the largest esports games in the world (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), DOTA 2, StarCraft 2 and Pro Evolution Soccer) with the opportunity to represent Canada at the WESG Global Grand Finals in Shanghai in March 2019. “It’s tremendously exciting to be hosting two such incredible events at EGLX this fall.  In addition to esports, we will feature large booths from gaming’s biggest companies, an enhanced kids zone for younger players and a developer area where industry veterans and aspiring newcomers will host panels and share their knowledge.  Some of gaming’s most prominent Internet journalists and celebrities, like Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller, will also be on hand to report from the show floor and interact with fans.  Whether you want to compete, shop, watch a panel, cosplay or just share in the community of passionate gamers – EGLX will have everything any gamer could want when it hits downtown Toronto this October,”  said Menashe Kestenbaum.
