OMA reports an 8.8% increase in July 2018 passenger traffic


  • The Monterrey (+10.6%), Culiacán (+12.8%), and Chihuahua (+13.3%) airports contributed most to traffic growth

MONTERREY, Mexico, Aug. 06, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (NASDAQ: OMAB; BMV: OMA), reports that terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports increased 8.8% in July 2018, as compared to July 2017. Domestic traffic increased 9.7%, and international traffic increased 1.8%.

* Terminal passengers: includes passengers on the three types of aviation (commercial, charter, and general aviation), and excludes passengers in transit.

During July 2018, domestic traffic increased in nine airports, with the largest increases in:

  • Monterrey (+11.7%; +101,236 passengers), with 52% of total domestic traffic, benefitted from ncreases in the number of passengers on the Cancún, Mexico City, Tijuana, and Guadalajara routes.
     
  • Culiacán (+13.2%; +23,156) increased traffic on the Tijuana route.
     
  • Chihuahua (+14.7%; +18,215) increased traffic on the Mexico City route.

International traffic grew in six airports in July. Magnicharters started flying the seasonal Monterrey-Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and Monterrey – Varadero, Cuba routes.

Of total passenger traffic, 99.3% was commercial, and 0.7% was general aviation.
