WEST ST. PAUL, Manitoba, Aug. 23, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Family and friends of victims of impaired driving will join MADD Canada for a special ceremony at the Manitoba Memorial Monument on Sunday, August 26 to pay tribute to their lost loved ones.
The Manitoba Memorial Monument was created in 2016. It is inscribed with the names of 63 Manitobans who have been killed by impaired drivers. Seven new names are being added this year. A ceremony of remembrance is held at the Monument each year to honour and remember the innocent victims of impaired driving.
Media are invited to attend the ceremony of remembrance and the unveiling of new names on the monument.

Located in a peaceful park-like setting at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery in West St. Paul, the monument and surrounding memorial benches give families and friends a place where they can remember and reflect on their loved ones.
“With this monument, we honour the innocent people who were taken from us by a senseless and completely preventable crime, and we raise awareness with the public about the true devastation caused by impaired driving,” said MADD Canada Victims Services Manager (Western Region) Gillian Phillips.
