Filament Joins Mobility Open Blockchain Initiative (MOBI) to Drive Adoption of Blockchain Technology

Collaboration with MOBI partners will help make transportation safer, more efficient and affordable

RENO, Nev., Sept. 05, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Filament, provider of comprehensive blockchain solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT) and the enterprise, today announced it has joined the Mobility Open Blockchain Initiative (MOBI) to collaborate with the partner community and contribute to both the standards and open platform that will help accelerate adoption of blockchain technology in the mobility industry.

MOBI’s founding partners including BMW, Bosch, Ford, General Motors, Groupe Renault and others, created the consortium to support the use of blockchain and related technologies by vehicle manufacturers and consumer facing mobility providers.

“The contributions of our members including leading blockchain consortia, innovative technology companies, automakers, public transportation providers, insurance companies and more is driving a lot of momentum around our initiative,” said Chris Ballinger, CEO, MOBI. “Participation from technology providers such as Filament is key as we work on creating the mobility ecosystem of the future.”

Filament will work with the MOBI community to support the development of industry standards and to provide technical expertise for blockchain pilot, proof of concept and production deployments within the industry.

“Our solutions and focus in the mobility sector are very much aligned with MOBI’s mission,” said Allison Clift-Jennings, CEO, Filament. “The impact of technology is disrupting this industry, and we are working to deploy blockchain solutions that create new revenue opportunities, enhance service and deliver a trusted experience. We look forward to collaborating with the MOBI community to improve digital solutions for manufacturers and mobility experiences for consumers.”

Filament’s Blocklet™ blockchain solutions allow mobility corporations to independently process and record transactions directly on their connected devices and vehicles, ensuring digital trust that creates efficiencies and new revenue streams. Examples of how the mobility industry can create value with Filament’s blockchain technology solutions include verifying automobile diagnostic data, proving chain of custody across supply chains and validating the origin of parts and materials used in manufacturing.
