Washington, DC, Sept. 11, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB) gathered outside Fenway Park in Boston this morning and unfurled Old Glory for the fifth consecutive year. An epic journey will take that same flag through 24 states and 10,000 pairs of hands over the next 62 days, as veterans and supporters work together to bring the American flag to San Diego on Veterans Day, the 100th anniversary of the Armistice of World War I.
“We are honored to kick off the Old Glory Relay on Patriot Day in the original American city of patriots,” said John Pinter, Executive Director of Team RWB. “It’s the fifth time we’re crossing the country, and it just gets better every year thanks to the amazing teams of veterans, supporters, sponsors and communities engaged along the course. This journey is the manifestation of our belief that our nation is stronger and healthier when we’re unified in support of veteran transition.”
Relay participants will be joined along the route by presenting sponsor Microsoft, in addition to key sponsors including Westfield, Starbucks, Comcast NBCUniversal, Amazon Military, Drip Drop, Zealios, and LaQuinta Inns & Suites.
