Toll Brothers, Councilmember Englander Celebrate Groundbreaking for 50-Acre Community Park in Porter Ranch

Park to offer outdoor pavilion, splash pad, courts, hiking trail, and great views of Los Angeles

Porter Ranch, CA, Oct. 11, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Against the majestic backdrop of a vast Southern California skyline, Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitchell Englander was joined by Toll Brothers officials and community members on Friday, October 5, to celebrate the start of construction of a 50-acre multi-dimensional park at the Porter Ranch luxury home community.

The new park will feature an outdoor pavilion with shade structures for events, a splash pad, basketball/pickleball and tennis courts, a playground for older children and a tot lot for the younger set, an outdoor classroom area, hiking trails, and some of the best views of the greater Los Angeles basin. Officials also revealed the park’s official name, Bloom Park and Englander Pavilion, named in honor of Councilman Mitchell Englander for his commitment to our community.

“The new 50-acre park will not only be a welcome addition to Porter Ranch, but also for the entire San Fernando Valley and greater Los Angeles region," Councilmember Mitchell Englander said. "Families deserve a place where they can come together to enjoy the natural beauty of their community. With its sweeping views and modern amenities, Bloom Park will provide that for residents and visitors alike and—upon completion—will be the among the most impressive parks in the city. I want to thank Toll Brothers for their dedication to this project and service to the residents of Porter Ranch."

Joining Englander at the groundbreaking ceremony were Anthony-Paul (AP) Diaz, Executive Officer and Chief of Staff for the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP); Sylvia Patsaouras, President of the Parks and Recreation Commission; and Frank Su, Division Vice President of Toll Brothers, builder of the park and the remaining portions of the Porter Ranch master planned community.

The new city park will nestle in the middle of Toll Brothers’ many new, unique Porter Ranch villages—including Westcliffe, The Canyons, Avila, and Hillcrest. The Porter Ranch community offers homebuyers a range of award-winning designs, gated villages, top-rated schools, and some of the best hillside views of Southern California.

“The vision of Porter Ranch is reawakening a neighborhood spirit among our residents. They may come for the views, or to own a spacious luxury home, yet they are quickly discovering there is a special charm when living here,” Su said. “As we’ve witnessed at our other parks, along the many trails here or during holiday events, Porter Ranch homeowners are enjoying a tranquil, safe, and inspiring environment. We’re excited to keep building upon this positive sentiment with such a wonderful asset—a spacious, well-designed community park.”

Park construction is expected to take more than a year. The design, which can be seen here via an animated video, will include drought-tolerant plants and other sustainable features, Su said. The park will also include the refurbished Porter Ranch horse statues that once stood at the traditional entrance of Porter Ranch. The fabled statues had been removed years ago and were only recently discovered in a private collection. Toll Brothers was able to retrieve them and had them restored.

Toll Brothers, America’s Luxury Home Builder®, recently opened an additional six model homes of the 20 total models in the Porter Ranch master plan. Porter Ranch now features seven unique villages with homes priced from the mid-$800,000s to more than $2 million. Toll Brothers’ homes feature indoor-outdoor living designs enabling homeowners to enjoy city views.

Porter Ranch includes the academically acclaimed K-8 Porter Ranch Community School and highly sought-after Sierra Canyon School. Opening in early 2019 will be The Vineyards, a $150 million retail-entertainment center that will provide Porter Ranch with the next generation of open-air shopping, dining and entertainment, a medical center, and a hotel.
