Jambojet Selects FLYHT for Long Range Communications

AFIRS to replace HF radio and provide aircraft health monitoring

CALGARY, Alberta, Oct. 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. (TSX-V: FLY) (OTCQX: FLYLF) (the “Company” or “FLYHT”) today announced that regional low-cost carrier, Jambojet has selected FLYHT’s Automated Flight Information Recording System (AFIRS) for the flight crew’s long-range communications with operations and maintenance controllers. The system will replace HF radio communications and will provide additional capabilities to help the airline operate more efficiently, save money and enhance safety. The contract is valued at USD$650 thousand dollars, assuming the Company provides services over the full term of the five (5) year contract.

“Airlines operating in areas where HF radio is problematic are looking for solutions that not only enable communications, but also help them meet the GADSS, or Global Aeronautical Distress Safety System mandated by ICAO, the International Civil Aviation Organization,” says David Perez, vice president of sales at FLYHT. “FLYHT’s products enable airlines like Jambojet to reduce their pilot’s workload, use aircraft system data to proactively maintain their aircraft, and to meet the mandate.  We are pleased to count them among our successful clients.”

“FLYHT’s AFIRS brings satellite-based voice capabilities to the flight deck for global communications, and gives our operations, maintenance and management teams critical information about the health and status of our aircraft fleet, delivered in real-time,” said Willem Hondius, CEO and managing director at Jambojet. “The system is a key part of our plans to meet the ICAO mandate while also maintaining our aircraft to the highest safety standards.”

Integral to the system are several key applications:

  • FLYHTLog is an application that automates the entry of an aircraft’s Flight Log data, such as origin, “OOOI” (out, off, on and in), and destination. Such automation reduces pilot workload and increases log and real-time operational accuracy.
  • The operational team at Jambojet will appreciate FLYHTASD (aircraft situation display). It is a web-based application which tracks aircraft and reports position data at a programmable frequency, which will help Jambojet meet the GADSS mandate.
  • FLYHTHealth is an application used to monitor critical engine and airframe exceedances. Airlines can select several parameters to monitor, such as hard landings, maximum operating altitude, and maximum operating speed. Operational limits are set and because the data is transmitted to FLYHT’s UpTime Cloud data center in real-time, airlines gain the ability to manage by exception and proactively maintain their aircraft to reduce operational delays, saving money.

About FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd.
2018 marks FLYHT’s 20th anniversary as a leader in real-time aircraft data streaming. FLYHT’s mission is to improve aviation safety, efficiency and profitability (located in Calgary, Canada; publicly traded as: FLY:TSX.V; FLYLF:OTCQX). Airlines, leasing companies, fractional owners and original equipment manufacturers have installed the Automated Flight Information Reporting System (AFIRS) on their aircraft. The solution is used to capture, process and stream aircraft data providing real-time alerts. AFIRS sends this information through satellite networks to FLYHT’s UpTime Cloud data center, which gives aircraft operators direct insight into the operational status and health of their aircraft, which in turn enables them to take corrective action to maintain the highest standard of operational control. The company recently acquired the assets of Panasonic Weather Services, including FlightLink Iridium Satellite Data Unit and Tropospheric Airborne Meteorological Data Reporting (TAMDAR) sensor.
