Huawei Releases Industry-First 1 Gbit/s Outdoor CPE, Opening Up a Fiber Era for Wireless Home Broadband

London, Nov. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via NEWMEDIAWIRE -- Huawei released an industry-first 8-antenna outdoor CPE B3368 at the wireless home broadband (HBB) booth at the Global Mobile Broadband Forum. The CPE demonstrated a peak rate of up to 1 Gbit/s and is the fastest commercial outdoor 4.5G CPE throughout the industry. 8R CPEs implement advanced multiple-antenna technologies to triple spectral efficiency, allowing operators to provide three times more services to users while greatly reducing the cost per line for wireless HBB. With a fiber-like experience rate of 1 Gbit/s, wireless HBB is ushering into a new fiber era.

1 Gbit/s Fiber-like, Optimal Experience

Huawei benefits from a diverse range of technologies, such as multiple-antenna, multi-carrier, and high-order modulation technologies, to maximize the UE rate and increase the peak rate over the air interface to more than 1 Gbit/s, delivering a fiber-like experience to all end users. Huawei's exclusive 8-antenna reception technology greatly expands the coverage radius for high-rate users. Under the same network conditions, the proportion of high-rate users can be increased by 30%, which effectively improves the monetization capability of wireless broadband.

3-fold Spectral Efficiency and 3-fold Service Provisioning Capability

The B3368 combined with Huawei's advanced massive MIMO base stations implements exclusive performance improvement technologies to achieve three times higher service provisioning capability than other industry solutions and reduces the cost per line by 60%. This allows operators to maximize the value of their networks and provide broadband access services for more households and enterprises without deploying more base stations.

Intelligent Antenna Selection for Simple, Low-Cost, and DIY Installation

The B3368 adopts intelligent antenna selection. No complex alignment is required during installation, greatly simplifying CPE installation while also making DIY installation possible. This significantly reduces the personnel and costs of service provisioning for operators, which improves deployment efficiency, helps operators quickly provide services, and accelerates the development of wireless HBB.

Wang Qingwen, President of Huawei WTTx Product Line, commented, "Huawei is committed to creating a digital world for everyone, every household, every organization, and to building a smart, fully-interconnected world. The WTTx product line is dedicated to providing broadband connections for every household and every organization via innovative wireless technologies. This industry-first 8-antenna outdoor CPE can be perfectly combined with Huawei's 5G-oriented multiple-antenna base stations to improve spectral efficiency (by three times), reduce the cost per line (by 60%), and help operators provide fiber-like wireless broadband access services."

Broadband popularization is an important indicator to measure the social and economic development and driving force for innovative informatization in a country or region. As a cornerstone of HBB, wireless HBB has rapidly developed over the past two years. According to Huawei's latest survey, WTTx has been deployed on more than 230 networks in over 120 countries across the world. The total number of wireless HBB users is expected to reach 75 million by the end of 2018. WTTx helps local communities to bridge the digital divide, create better medical and educational opportunities, connect the unconnected, and create a wonderful new digital lifestyle for each and every household.

Together with industry partners GSMA and GTI, the 2018 Global Mobile Broadband Forum hosted by Huawei will be held in London, UK on November 19-21, 2018, when global operators, regulators, and vertical operators will be invited. Industry partners, as well as media and analysts gathered to discuss the development of the mobile industry. For more details, please see:
