TRI Pointe Homes Carolinas Adds 25-Year Raleigh Real Estate Veteran to Its Fast-Growing Team

New Vice President of Acquisition George Young Brings Decades of Land-Buying Experience and Extensive Local Market Connections to New TRI Pointe Homes Division

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 04, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TRI Pointe Home Carolinas, a member of TRI Pointe Group, one of the top 10 largest public homebuilders in the United States based on equity market capitalization, announced today the addition of George Young as vice president of land acquisition and division vice president. The expansion of the Carolinas team, based in Charlotte and Raleigh, reinforces the company’s commitment to hiring best-in-class industry professionals to capitalize on new market growth in the southeast region.

A Raleigh native with more than 25 years of land-buying experience, Young brings strong asset acquisition, contract negotiation and project execution skills to the new TRI Pointe Homes division, which launched in October of this year. Prior to joining TRI Pointe Homes Carolinas, Young served as vice president of land acquisition at M/I Homes of Raleigh.

“George has consistently delivered a robust land pipeline for a top five builder in the market and now brings his strong experience and diverse, far-reaching network to our company,” said Gray Shell, division president of TRI Pointe Homes Carolinas. “As a major strategic differentiator, TRI Pointe Homes starts with people, builds strong local relationships and attracts experienced talent like George who will help us establish a powerful presence in a region boasting residential growth opportunities and affordability advantages.”

Holding a Bachelor’s Degree from North Carolina State University and his North Carolina Real Estate Broker’s License, Young will operate out of TRI Pointe Homes’ regional office in Raleigh. Locally, Young serves as a member of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County.

In addition to recruiting top talent, the company’s proven approach includes a disciplined land acquisition strategy and innovation in home design, a formula that has powered organic growth for TRI Pointe Group in other parts of the country. TRI Pointe Homes Carolinas targets opportunities to develop well-located attached and detached housing communities for multiple market segments, ranging from entry-level townhomes to move-up single-family homes to age-qualified product in core markets.

“The growing divisional leadership team in the Carolinas has the advantage of leveraging TRI Pointe Group’s national resources and leadership while utilizing its strong regional expertise and, with the addition of George Young, now even more established local market connections,” said Tom Mitchell, president and chief operating officer of TRI Pointe Group.

TRI Pointe Homes’ strategic expansion into the Carolinas capitalizes on the top 10 national housing markets1 of Raleigh and Charlotte that have rebounded strongly from the recession. The Research Triangle in the Raleigh-Durham metro offers a biotech and pharmaceutical hub that boasts a median income 10 percent above the national number.2  The attractive cost of living and diversified base of employers make both Raleigh and Charlotte highly appealing to both transplants and retirees.
