B. Braun’s Innovative Compounding System Installed at Texas Children’s Hospital

BETHLEHEM, Pa., Dec. 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- B. Braun Medical Inc. successfully installed its new and innovative macro and micro APEX® Compounding System at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. The compounder is designed for facilities that need in-house compounding capabilities and incorporates a large user interface, 26-lead preassembled transfer sets, and dual-drive filling technology with automated delivery as low as 0.2 mL.

Recognized as the 4th leading children’s hospital in the country, Texas Children’s cares for some of the world’s most critically ill patients – from neonates as small as 500 grams to 120 kg adolescents.  “Patients are relying on us solely for their support for healing and repair,” said Jeff Wagner, Director of Pharmacy at Texas Children’s Hospital.  “Parenteral nutrition is key to that and having a partnership with B. Braun to provide ideal technology to support that need is very important.”

B. Braun initially established its solid working relationship with Texas Children’s after installing its PINNACLE® TPN Management System there.  “We are committed to saving and protecting lives – it’s the common thread that inspires each and every one of us throughout the organization,” said Jessica Pitt PharmD, Product Director for Automated Compounding at B. Braun. “We are particularly proud to be collaborating with Texas Children’s because they share the same passion and commitment. With the recent installation of the APEX Compounding System, Texas Children’s now has the capability to fulfill all of their automated compounding needs with a single vendor.”
