American Institutes for Research Opens Office in Arlington, Virginia

Headquarters Remains in Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C., Dec. 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The American Institutes for Research (AIR), one of the world’s pre-eminent research, evaluation, technical assistance and assessment organizations, opened a new office in Arlington, Virginia today (Dec. 10, 2018), continuing its investment in the Washington, D.C. area.

More than 300 AIR employees are now working in the new location at 1400 Crystal Drive in the heart of Arlington’s Crystal City Business Improvement District, also known as National Landing. The opening of this office was driven by AIR’s regional real estate strategy and the desire to improve commutes for many of its staff members.

“Our new offices will make it easier for many of our Virginia-based employees to get to and from work, supporting our efforts to help our team achieve an optimal work-life fit,” said David Myers, AIR’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “The convenience and amenities of Crystal City, combined with its proximity to our federal government clients, make this a smart move for our organization now and in the future.”

AIR is leasing approximately 90,000 square feet on three-and-a-half floors of 1400 Crystal Drive, which is owned by Lowe Enterprises. AIR’s headquarters will remain at 1000 Thomas Jefferson Street, NW in the Georgetown section of Washington, D.C., where nearly 600 employees will continue to be located.

“Washington D.C. has been our home for nearly 50 years and is an important part of our history,” Myers said. “The opening of our new offices in Virginia does not diminish our commitment to being strong corporate citizens in our nation’s capital.”

With the opening of the new office, AIR now has a presence in three major locations around the DC metro area. In addition to Washington, D.C. and Arlington, AIR also has an office at 6003 Executive Boulevard in Rockville, Md., which houses about 100 employees, as well as smaller offices in Frederick, Md. and Reston, Va.

Given its national and international profile, AIR also has offices across the U.S. and abroad, including domestic locations in San Mateo, California; Chicago and Naperville, Illinois; Waltham, Massachusetts; New York City; Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and Austin, Texas.  AIR also has a permanent office in Zambia and an office in Berlin, Germany.
