Claire’s Place Foundation Assists Over 150 Families with Cystic Fibrosis

Milestone Carries on Founder Claire Wineland’s Legacy

Los Angeles, CA, Dec. 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Claire’s Place Foundation, a non-profit organization providing support to children and families affected by cystic fibrosis (CF), is proud to announce its grant program has helped more than 150 families living with CF pay their bills. Since 2011, the foundation has raised over one million dollars to alleviate the financial stress families experience from extended hospital stays.

“My daughter Claire was very clear that her one wish was for us to carry on the mission of her foundation,” said Claire’s Place Foundation Executive Director Melissa Yeager. “She would be absolutely thrilled to know we have reached the one million dollar mark, helping hundreds of families, and I believe she does know. Since her passing in September the outpouring of support has been incredible, from all over the world. At the same time the continued requests from families with children living with CF has also been overwhelming. No mother or father should have to decide between work and being by their child’s side during hospital stays and they should not have to be bothered with the stress of bills. As painful as it is to lose our dear Claire, we find joy in helping others who are struggling and know that Claire would be thrilled that the foundation she worked so hard to start will live on in her honor.”

The Claire’s Place Extended Hospital Stay Fund provides grants to families with children such as Elijah that are experiencing a hospital stay of at least fourteen consecutive days. Extended stays are a financial stress and often the children are in a city far from home and the parents have to miss work. The program assists them with bills such as mortgage, rent, utilities or other basic necessities to alleviate that burden and turn the focus to caring for their child and family.

Founded by the late Claire Wineland, renowned public speaker, advocate and social media star who spent much of her life in hospitals receiving treatment for cystic fibrosis, Claire’s Place Foundation provides financial and emotional support for children and families living with this chronic and terminal illness.
