SAN FRANCISCO and ST. LOUIS, Dec. 18, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Planet, an integrated aerospace and data analytics company, today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Boundless, the leader in open and scalable GIS. The acquisition will expand Planet’s commercial business with the U.S. government and commercial agriculture clients.

Planet will leverage the Boundless technology and its expertise deployed inside the U.S. government to further facilitate the utility of Planet products. Planet will also incorporate the strong customer-centric culture, which is at the heart of success in deploying geospatial data and technologies to Boundless customers. As part of the agreement, Planet will continue to support large enterprise customers in U.S. government and agriculture and retain the company’s St. Louis headquarters and select staff.

The acquisition of Boundless enables Planet to advance its long-term objectives to support and work more closely with the U.S. government, as federal agencies increasingly look toward commercial products and services that are scalable, cost-effective, and reliable.
