Volaris Reports April 2024 Traffic Results: 85% Load Factor

MEXICO CITY, May 09, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Controladora Vuela Compañía de Aviación, S.A.B. de C.V. (NYSE: VLRS and BMV: VOLAR) (“Volaris” or “the Company”), the ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) serving Mexico, the United States, Central, and South America, reports its April 2024 preliminary traffic results.

In April 2024, Volaris' ASM capacity decreased by 20.4% year-over-year due to the accelerated Pratt & Whitney engine inspections and the resulting aircraft groundings. RPMs declined by 21.3%, resulting in a load factor decrease of 1.0 pp YoY to 84.7%, impacted by the Easter holiday shift to March. Mexican domestic RPMs decreased by 28.1%, while international RPMs decreased by 6.3%. Volaris transported 2.3 million passengers during the month.

Enrique Beltranena, Volaris’ President and CEO, said: “Our adjustments to the domestic network have yielded positive results. As we prepare for the summer high season, we added capacity to the U.S-Mexico transborder market while trimming capacity in Central America. For the remainder of the second quarter, our booking curves are aligned with our guidance.”
