First Dryer Vent Wizard Franchise Opens in Canada

DETROIT, MI--(Marketwired - Sep 3, 2013) - Dryer Vent Wizard (DVW) announced the opening of the company's first Canadian franchise this month. DVW, which specializes in dryer vent repair, replacement, alteration, cleaning and maintenance for residential and commercial clients, also added three new U.S. franchises during the second and third quarter of 2013.

In the U.S. alone, it is estimated that poorly maintained or clogged dryer vents are the leading cause of appliance fires, resulting in more than 15,500 dryer fires every year. These are only the reported cases.

John Dykas of Fox River Valley in Illinois is among the three new U.S. franchisees. Dykas serves most of Kane County including the cities of Aurora, Batavia, St. Charles and Elgin.

"I've been able to combine my 15 years experience in construction and, more recently, 15 years in corporate marketing to launch my own business," said Dykas.

Serving southeast Wisconsin is new franchisee Dean Culver. His service area includes the cities of Janesville, Kenosha, Racine, Milwaukee and Waukesha. 

"I enjoy both the customer service side and physical part of my business," said Culver, who worked in the corporate world for 25 years before investing in the DVW franchise. "I feel good about making people's homes safer."

Charles and Monica Amick of southwest Seattle, Washington are also launching their DVW franchise this month.

 These additions bring the total number of franchisees to 66, serving more than 9,000 communities of all sizes throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Along with providing cleaning and maintenance services to help prevent dryer fires, DVW franchisees and technicians help raise public awareness about fire prevention and energy savings.
