HARRISBURG, PA--(Marketwired - Aug 24, 2015) - D&H Distributing, the leading North American computer products and consumer electronics distributor, announces it has seen significant growth in its first quarter of Fiscal Year 2016, showing increases in sales of 8% year-over-year.
D&H saw increased sales in local government and education, spurred by a continued focus on the K-12 marketplace. The distributor has conducted ongoing trainings and supplied ample online resources to inform VARs about opportunities for classroom sales relative to the administration's Common Core directives. D&H is implementing further training and materials this coming quarter emphasizing the Federal E-Rate program, which delivers funding to school districts for the purpose of implementing new technology. The distributor's Q1 2016 ran from May 1, 2015 to July 31, 2015.
D&H has also seen exceptional sales in servers in light of Microsoft's termination-of-service for the Server 2003 solutions. The company provided consultation with its VARs to help them not only capture upgrade opportunities, but to upsell more advanced, turn-key solutions that encompass storage, networking, security and back-office elements, leading to more comprehensive deployments.
The distributor achieved strong double-digit growth in PCs and desktops as well, driven by D&H's small business reseller channel. In addition, D&H's focus on the Windows 10 launch positions the company for continued robust client growth as Back to School season comes to a close, and the company moves into Q4 of the calendar year.
These gains come at a time when other distributors in the channel have reported stalled or reduced momentum. Typically, the market experiences a temporary slow-down or "hangover" after a refresh cycle such as those prompted by the Microsoft XP and Server 2003 end-of-service dates. D&H often proves to be resilient in the face of such industry reactions, since the company specializes in adapting to changing market conditions -- a skill that has been essential to its nearly ten decades of operation.
To buffer any post-XP/Server '03 "hangover," D&H bolstered efforts in emerging areas such as mobility, wearable technologies and connected office/automation solutions. It extended this strategy to its solution provider customers, offering emerging technologies that give VARs an early competitive advantage and higher product margins.
"We've spent the year equipping our resellers with cutting-edge products and insights on what trends will bring them the greatest profitability. This has led to larger-scale installations, and more sophisticated projects, and expansion into lucrative verticals. We're thrilled to see the strategy come to fruition," said Dan Schwab, co-president of D&H Distributing. "It's the result of months of dedication, wherein D&H pursues a unique roster of new vendor partners and develops effective programs and training venues in conjunction with its long-term manufacturers. We look forward to enhancing that success, and continuing to invest in our customer base over the rest of our fiscal year."
