Canada's second largest private company will unveil today the presentation centre and architectural model for what will be one of the most sizeable real estate developments in Downtown Vancouver over the next several years - covering an entire city block. The mixed-use project will include Western Canada's tallest all-residential skyscraper and third tallest building after Shangri-La and Trump Vancouver.
The Jim Pattison Group has joined forces with award-winning Reliance Properties for what is the most significant development to date for either partner.
"At more than one million square feet, Burrard Place is a significant project that will have a dramatic presence on the Vancouver skyline, as well as a place-making impact at street level," said Jon Stovell, President of Reliance Properties. "The design had to demonstrate architectural excellence and significant environmental standards in order to be approved by an international panel."
Two residential towers - including One Burrard Place at 550 feet - will total almost 800 units. With only six sites designated by the city for skyscrapers in Downtown Vancouver, no other all-residential building will be taller. The development will also include a 13-storey office tower, public mews and a vertically integrated Toyota showroom where the old Pattison Toyota Downtown stood for 42 years.
"This will be the only full-service automobile dealership in Downtown Vancouver," said Michael Lee, Vice President of Jim Pattison Developments. "The vertical operation will minimize the footprint at street level. The showroom will be a three-storey glass jewel box, with all of the service areas on five underground levels."
One Burrard Place is also setting a luxury benchmark in the city by offering the first-ever butler concierge and on-demand access to services offered by notable Vancouver personalities. Sales start this month.

A recent report by Sotheby's International Realty Canada shows all luxury housing types in Vancouver are experiencing an upswing in sales, marking a year-over-year increase of 48 per cent. According to RE/MAX's 2015 Spotlight on Luxury report, buyers of luxury condos tend to be downsizers, young couples and foreign buyers.

The first phase of the $500-million Burrard Place is scheduled to break ground in early 2016.
