Folio, the Gmail assistant for agents, adds security feature to warn agents about possible fraud emails

Amitree's Folio Email Transaction Assistant detects key phrases that may signal unauthorized requests for wire transfers and deposits, notifies agents

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 6, 2017) - Folio, the first intelligent assistant for real estate transactions, will now offer a new feature for agents that can alert them when they may have sent or received an email requesting a wire transfer or deposit. Folio is already being used by over 30,000 agents to organize their inbox by transaction and put key transaction details at their fingertips. This new feature gives more control for agents to know what's going on in their transactions and represents an important step toward helping agents safeguard themselves and their clients from wire fraud.

"While email offers great convenience, hackers continue to target SF homebuyers, sellers, and agents with fraudulent scams. Amitree's latest release is a great new level of additional security for clients and agents that rely on email," said Matt Fuller, Realtor, 2017 President, San Francisco Association of Realtors. "Amitree's smart assistant works seamlessly with Google hosted Gmail services, right where it needs to be to detect some of the more obvious scams that can be used to dupe clients. While no single solution will ever eliminate this problem entirely, Folio's new feature immediately helps protect my clients and make my business safer."

Targeted phishing attacks against real estate agents, aimed at taking control of their email and sending wiring instructions to unwitting clients, have become a serious problem in real estate. It is estimated that such attacks have caused over a billion dollars in damages to home buyers and sellers in recent years.

"We're excited to be able to leverage the machine learning technology we built into the agent's email inbox to provide a layer of security to agents who want more control over and visibility into what's going on in their transactions," added Jonathan Aizen, founder and CEO of Amitree. "Our technology processes and understands the context of millions of transaction emails every day. Warning agents when the context suggests an email has been sent asking for a wire transfer is one small thing we can do to help fight this problem as an industry."

More information and settings for this security feature can be accessed for Folio users in their Notifications settings page. Folio is free to install and use for real estate agents, and large teams and brokerages can inquire about integrations to make security and compliance features more streamlined with their preferred technology stack.
