Vancouver, BC, April 15, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As a homegrown company we have been building the Vancouver Gateway since 1907, GCT Canada is pleased to announce our support to the Fraser River Discovery Centre (“FRDC”). Since 2001, the FRDC has acted as the voice of the Fraser, presenting stories to the public about its contributions to the life, history, and future of British Columbia. GCT Canada is proud to join as a 2019 Annual Partner.
Together with returning partners the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, FortisBC, Parkland Fuel Corporation, Seaspan, Saam Smit Towage, Fraser Surrey Docks, Fraser River Pile and Dredge, Western Canada Marine Response Corporation, SRY Rail Link, and Trans Mountain, we join Amix Group as a new partner for 2019.
“I can’t thank our annual partners enough for their support,” said Stephen Bruyneel, FRDC Director of External Relations & Development. “We literally could not run the Centre without them. Their contributions go towards day-to-day operations as well as helping support exhibits, programs, and key activities like RiverSchool, RiverFest, the Fraser River Dialogues, our BioDiversity Speaker Series, and Faces of the Fraser.”
“As the region’s largest maritime employer, it was natural for us to partner with the Fraser River Discovery Centre. The Centre’s work on community education and engagement is essential for us, as a strong, working waterfront is fundamental to our future prosperity,” noted Eric Waltz, President of GCT Canada. “As we look forward to growing our operations and making them even more sustainable, we are excited to come aboard to support the Centre.”
As a non-profit with no core-funding, the FRDC relies completely on external funding for its operation. In addition to contributions from its Annual Partners, other support comes from grants – including from Direct Access Gaming and the City of New Westminster – corporate and personal donations, facility rentals, school programs, and admission fees.
