HELSINKI CASE SETTLED

The City of Helsinki and Aspo Plc have settled their dispute
concerning the clean-up costs of the former oil storage center of
Herttoniemi, Helsinki. The dispute led to legal action in the Hel-
sinki District Court, with the City demanding that Aspo Plc and
three oil companies jointly pay MFIM 27 in damages, or in a second
claim Aspo’s share MFIM 4.3 be separately paid to the City.

The settlement calls for Aspo to pay a lump sum to the City
amounting to FIM 100,000. The City agreed in turn to drop any
further legal action against Aspo and to make no further claims
related the case in question. The court costs are covered by
reserves made in the 1999 financial accounts.
