Nokia to deliver WAP solution to Ukrainian Mobile Communications

Nokia has signed a contract with leading national operator, Ukrainian Mobile Communications (UMC) to supply the Nokia WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) solution enabling the delivery of mobile Internet services to UMC customers.

The contract comprises of the supply of the Nokia Artus Messaging Platform and the Nokia Artus MAX Platform.

Nokia Artus Messaging Platform acts as gateway between information and applications on the Internet and a mobile phone. Information on the Internet such as news or stock quotes can be accessed in seconds. Nokia Artus Messaging Platform also makes it possible to access Web applications such as games or e-commerce. WAP security enables encryption and authentication for traffic between a WAP-enabled device and Messaging Platform through support of Wireless Transport Layer Security (WTLS). Messaging Platform also provides a secure Internet connection through Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).

Nokia Artus MAX Platform is a complementary portal, content and services server to the Nokia Artus Messaging Platform. It enables an operator to differentiate and brand attractive services, while users are able to select from the available content links and services the operator has provided, and to personalize the information they see on their mobile devices.
