Net Insight Delivers Second Release of DTM System Software

"I'm very pleased with the quality and consistency of features across all of our platforms", says Bengt J. Olsson, VP of Product Management, Net Insight. "This will enable our customers to upgrade quickly and easily, as well as ready us for ramping up production for commercial deployments."

NIMOSSM2.0 allows new features and improved performance for internet media-services-starved operators and production houses.

"Content over the Internet is shifting from elastic applications to inelastic ones, like streaming video-on-demand and broadcast media", says John Kostak, VP Global Marketing, Net Insight. "While strict QoS guarantees are critical, so is the need for a radical change in the economics of the production, packaging and delivery of multi-media content. Net Insight continues to lead in addressing these issues with our newest release of DTM system software."

Support for configuration, enhanced availability and utilization is among the highlights of NIMOSSM2.0.

Easier Configuration
Auto topology discovery and establishment of control channels now enable the nodes on a DTM link to detect other nodes they are connected to as well as automatically allocating and establishing a control channel.

Carrier-class Reliable, High Capacity for Large Broadband Networks
NIMOSSM2.0 continues Net Insight's carrier-class improvements, offering crankback and source routing, in example for 1+1 channel protection. With slot reallocation privileges, nodes on a data link can automatically redistribute the write access among them and adapt to the actual traffic pattern. Crankback and the dynamic resource management protocol (DRMP) both enhance availability and resource utilization of the network.

Synchronization, Data/Control Slots and Resource Management for Technology Distinction and New Capabilities
NIMOSSM2.0 has improved the DTM core software platform allowing the following attributes: network-wide distribution of a single reference clock, and automatic synchronization and fault recovery via use of:
· Node Synchronization Function
· DSYP (DTM Synchronization Protocol).
For establishing and managing channels, NIMOSSM2.0 has significantly updated more of its core DTM protocol suite, including:
· DTM Channel Protocol (DCP)
· DTM Control Channel (DCC)
