Sapa Inaugurates New Vertical Powder Coating Plant

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 9, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- On Thursday, October 10, the new vertical plant for powder coating at Sapa Lackering in Vetlanda, Sweden, will be inaugurated. The investment of 45 MSEK has a strategic importance for Sapa Profiler AB. The plant strengthens Sapa's (Other OTC:SPKKF) (Stockholm:SAPA) position as the leading profile supplier in Scandinavia.

"Our customers will have access to cutting-edge competence in all areas connected with refinement of aluminium profiles and the production of components based on aluminium profiles solutions," said Arne Rengstedt, Managing Director for Sapa Profiler AB. "Our new vertical plant will make us a strong and competitive partner."

The main advantage with the new plant is that up to seven metres long profiles are hung vertically instead of placed horizontally. This multiplies capacity and improves productivity. All operations are integrated in the new plant. The sections are hung, pre-treated, powder coated and heat treated in the same line.

County governor Birgit Friggebo inaugurates Sapa Lackering's vertical painting plant at 11:30 a.m. on October 10.
