Nokia Chosen by Amada To Secure Global Call Center Network

Tokyo, December 24, 2002 - Nokia (NYSE:NOK) announced today that Japan's leading industrial machine manufacturer Amada Co., Ltd. has chosen Nokia  IP Security Solutions to connect its global network of call centers, thereby standardizing its network security infrastructure on Nokia.

Amada operates call centers in Japan and overseas that  handle technical assistance and customer enquiries for the AP100 Jewellery, Amada's all-in-one CAD/CAM-enabled computer designed for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).  By securing the network that connects its headquarters with its international branches, Amada is now  able to train  its overseas call center agents directly from Tokyo , share confidential information between offices, and offer CAD/CAM programming support. The company selected Internet VPN technology, owing to its cost-effectiveness in enabling easy inter-office access.  Based on its proven performance and standard-setting global service and support, Amada chose the Nokia IP series of security appliances, integrating Check Point Software Technologies' (NASDAQ:CHKP) VPN-1®/FireWall-1®.

"We sought a secure and cost-effective Internet VPN network for our global infrastructure. We chose Nokia  because the products are  easy to deploy, operate,  and maintain," said Mr Isao Yokoyama, General Manager, System Technical Department, Amada Information Service Co., Ltd .  He added, "We replaced the legacy system in our headquarter, which previously ran Check Point VPN-1/Firewall-1 over a general purpose operating system, with the Nokia solution.  Now, we are able to centralize the management of the hardware and software systems, enabling  us to run a  a highly reliable operation."

Takashi Miyake, Deputy Associate Manager, Manufacturing & Supply Chain Sales Department, Solution Business Division, NTT Communications Corporation said, "We recommended Nokia for its easy configuration, excellent operability and reliability features as well as the global service and support that they could provide to Amada."

Amada has installed Nokia IP530s in a redundant configuration within NTT Communications' data center, Nokia IP530s in their headquarters  and Nokia IP330s in the various global call center offices. Amada aims to  replace the
legacy multi-vendor system with Nokia,  making it  a company standard.

"We are very proud that Amada chose Nokia security appliances as its global security solution as well as making Nokia, the standard for its network security infrastructure.  It is our aim to continually support Amada's emerging security needs, locally and worldwide," said Mikio Yanashita, General Manager, Nokia Internet Communications, Nokia Japan.
