Akzo Nobel: Management Change at Organon


ARNHEM, Netherlands, March 21, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- It has been mutually agreed that Hans Vemer will step down as President of Organon International, the human healthcare business of Akzo Nobel (Nasdaq:AKZOY), effective April 1, 2003.

As of the same date Toon Wilderbeek will assume the responsibility for business unit management of Organon in addition to his tasks as Member of the Board of Management of Akzo Nobel. Mr. Vemer will assist Mr. Wilderbeek in the transitional period.

Mr. Wilderbeek will conduct his business unit management responsibilities from the Organon headquarters in Roseland, New Jersey, United States, while he will maintain his office as Member of the Board of Management in Arnhem, the Netherlands.
