Curvation and Queen Latifah Launch Nationwide Campaign to Celebrate Curves, Confidence and Caring; Women Across the U.S. are Invited to Honor the Inspirational Woman in their Lives

NEW YORK, July 31, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Today Queen Latifah announced the kick-off of the first-ever "CURVATION(tm) Celebration," a nationwide campaign to promote and honor remarkable women who have made a significant difference in a another woman's life, helping her achieve her goals and become the strong, confident woman she is today.

Real women, strong and confident, with real curves were the inspiration behind CURVATION(tm), a new line of intimate apparel that celebrates a woman's curves by treating them as assets. CURVATION(tm) provides the 60 million curvaceous women in America with sensual and liveable lingerie at affordable prices.

"At CURVATION, we're all about celebrating women and empowering them to take on any challenge," said Anne Jardine, Vice President and General Manager. "The CURVATION Celebration Campaign celebrates those women who, by promoting self esteem and confidence in others, embody the true CURVATION spirit."

CURVATION spokesperson, Queen Latifah, epitomizes the confident attitude of the curvaceous woman. She brings a strong message of empowerment to women and girls through her song lyrics, her motivational speeches, and her inspirational books, Ladies First: Revelations of a Strong Woman, published in 1999, and Stay Strong: Simple Life Lessons for Teens, 2002.

Queen Latifah attributes much of her own success and self-assurance to the ongoing support and dedication of her mother, Rita Owens. "My mother always told me how smart, beautiful and talented I was. My mother believed in me before I even believed in myself. And because of that, no one can shake my confidence now."(1)

Women of all ages across the nation are eligible to nominate the one woman - i.e. mother, co-worker, mentor - who has impacted their lives. Women are invited to enter the Curvation nomination online at www.curvation.com and simply submit an essay that explains, in 250 words or less, why their nominee deserves to be celebrated. The winner and nominee will win an all-expense paid trip to New York and the opportunity to be interviewed by Grace Woman magazine, who may feature the winner's story.

Additionally, as part of the "CURVATION Celebration" Campaign, a donation of ten cents for each Curvation bra or panty sold at Wal*Mart during the month of August will be donated to the Lancelot H. Owens Scholarship Foundation, Inc. The foundation, founded by Queen Latifah in honor of her late brother, Lance Owens, empowers promising minority youth by providing educational and leadership development opportunities to help them achieve their goals and feel confident in who they are.
