NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Oct. 25, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Alma Martinez Fallon, an employee of Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC), received the Community Service Award from the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corporation (HENAAC) for her contributions to the achievements of Hispanics in engineering, science, technology, and math.

Fallon, a construction superintendent at the company's Newport News sector, was selected by the HENAAC Selection Committee, an independent group of representatives from industry, government and academia. The awards were presented at the 16th Annual HENAAC Conference in Pasadena, Calif., earlier this month.
A native of the Dominican Republic, Fallon's parents immigrated to the United States when she was nine. She earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Old Dominion University and a master's degree in engineering management from George Washington University. Fallon is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the 2004 national president of the Society of Women Engineers.
Northrop Grumman Newport News, headquartered in Newport News, Va., is the nation's sole designer, builder and refueler of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and one of only two companies capable of designing and building nuclear-powered submarines.
