EDMONDS, Wash., Nov. 16, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Washington Association of Mortgage Brokers (WAMB) today announced the recipients of its 2005 awards, which annually recognize the State's most distinguished mortgage brokers.
Pat Naselow, president of WAMB stated, "The Washington Association of Mortgage Brokers is keenly focused on promoting higher standards of business practices throughout its membership with the goal of providing consumers with more mortgage choice and unsurpassed professional service." The 2005 award categories and winners include:
-- Mortgage Broker of the Year -- Lee Spurgin, president of Merit Mortgage, Yakima, WA. This award is presented on the basis of how a mortgage broker represents themselves in their business with the public and how he/she interacts with the community, services customers and upholds the ethics and ideals of the industry. Mr. Spurgin was presented this award because he embodies the ideals and principles that WAMB sets forth for all its members and WAMB believes that Mr. Spurgin symbolizes the excellence representative of the mortgage broker industry. -- Affiliate of the Year -- Lisa Kepler, Vice President Wholesale Sales Manager for Washington Mutual Bank, Bellevue, WA. This award recognizes the individual dedication of an affiliate member who has worked effortlessly to promote and solicit support for WAMB. Specifically, Ms. Kepler has been highly instrumental in helping WAMB obtain funding for its 2005 education programs, a key initiative of WAMB. -- Jim Fitzgerald Distinguished Service Award (three winners): -- Adam Stein, president, American Brokerage, Federal Way, WA -- Ivan Jensen, president, Prestige Home Loans, Vancouver, WA -- Steve Bozick, loan officer, Rainier Mortgage, Bellevue, WA
This year's award was presented to a unique group of individuals whose dedication to serving the industry and devotion over a significant period of time is exemplary among their peers. Adam Stein, Ivan Jensen and Steve Bozick all relentlessly served and contributed time and insight to critical legislative work that could have a profound affect on the industry.
