Volvo Car Corporation Renews Agreement with Semcon for Production of Aftermarket Information Until 2008

GOTEBORG, Sweden, Dec. 6, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Semcon Informatic has signed an agreement with the Volvo Car Corporation for an initial three-year period to supply aftermarket information for all Volvo Cars' workshops and all sold cars.

Semcon Informatic develops Volvo Cars' Service, Parts, and Product information for all of its models. Around 100 consultants are engaged in this business for Volvo Cars. Service and Parts information is translated into 18 languages and used by around 2,700 Volvo workshops globally. Product information is that which is supplied to the end customer in every new car.

"We signed our first partnership agreement for producing aftermarket information with the Volvo Car Corporation in 1999. As Volvo Cars continues to believe in us we see it as evidence that a long-term, attractive range of services is paying off," says Semcon's CEO, Hans Johansson.

Product and service information is becoming more important in the way we see a product and contributes in strengthening the brand. Today's complex products and smart solutions require constantly better information support so that users understand the product and get full value from it. An example of this is interactive driver information that quickly helps the end-user understand how the car works.

"In our aim to become a major international supplier of aftermarket information, it's vital that our current customers are completely satisfied and keep faith in us," says Lars-Inge Sjoquist, Semcon's deputy CEO and Business Area Manager for Informatic. "What's unique about our partnership is that it's a product-based service meeting the customer's requirements of cost-efficiency, flexibility and strategic skills assurance," he concludes.
