Junior League of Orange County, Calif., JLOCC, Teams with Girls Inc. to Offer Self-Defense Classes


NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., April 17, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Junior League of Orange County, Calif., Inc., (JLOCC) is teaming with Girls Incorporated of Orange County and its Action for Safety Committee in offering hands-on classes on self-defense grappling techniques. The girls will gain a sense of strength, confidence and skills to keep them safe and healthy, learning skills and techniques to enable them to handle situations they would otherwise be uncomfortable or unfamiliar with, such as family violence, teasing and bullying, sexual harassment and sexual abuse.

Mixed martial arts master instructor Bear St. Clair will lead the sessions designed for girls aged 9 and up. They will be held 10 a.m.-Noon and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 28, at Bear Essentials Combat. Space is limited to 30 students per class. Participation is free of charge, but reservations are required.
