Delta Gives Customers 300 Reasons to Fly Comfortably

Upgrades to airplane interiors complete on more than two-thirds of airline's fleet

ATLANTA, Sept. 8, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Delta Air Lines this week rolled out its 300th aircraft -- Ship 927, a McDonnell-Douglas MD-88 -- to receive new all-leather seating in first and economy class, new lighting and wall coverings and updated lavatories as part of its fleet-wide cabin conditioning program.

"Delta is committed to making the travel experience as comfortable as possible and we're thrilled that today more than two-thirds of our fleet provides customers with a more inviting cabin, one in which passengers can enjoy their favorite novel, catch up on some sleep or finish that important project," said Joanne Smith, vice president of Marketing for Delta.

The cabin conditioning program began in late 2004. Since that time, Delta has completed the modifications on its entire MD-90 fleet. The next fleet types to be completed include Delta's Boeing 737-800 and 757 fleets, along with the MD-88 fleet.

In addition to a refreshed interior on board Delta's domestic fleet, interior upgrades currently are underway for the airline's international fleet. Earlier this year, Delta announced upgrades to its international BusinessElite(r) cabin. As part of this upgrade, Delta is improving its popular sleeper seat, touting 60 inches of legroom and a wide-angle recline, with higher-rising leg rests and additional cushioning that includes memory foam under the knees for extra support, stylish new leather coverings, better headrests and tray tables, and in-seat laptop power outlets. Additionally, customers in Delta's international economy cabin also will enjoy all-leather seating, brighter lighting, new wall coverings and upgraded lavatories.

The first eight modified international aircraft currently are flying today in support of Delta's international expansion. Current plans call for 75 internationally configured aircraft to be upgraded by summer 2007.
