Online Video for Organizational Communications 2008 Conference Keynotes and Panelists Announced

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 14, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- iPressroom, the USC Annenberg School for Communications and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) will present Online Video for Organizational Communications at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT) in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008. The one-day conference will feature an impressive lineup of industry luminaries who will discuss best practices for integrating online video into organizational communications campaigns.

The morning keynote will be delivered by Brent Friedman, the creator of Gemini Division (currently, airing on NBC.com), the first and much anticipated Webserial by Electronic Farm Entertainment. Freidman will discuss how to make online videos as compelling and entertaining as they are informative. The afternoon keynote will be delivered by Infuse Creative's Gregory Markel, LA's guru on search engine optimization and search engine marketing. Gregory will address effective practices on driving traffic and building audiences for videos and businesses.

Conference attendees will learn the nuts and bolts of online video production, meet top producers of original online video news programming, and participate in a discussion about what makes online videos go viral. Speakers include Rob Barrett, general manager of LA Times.com; Hayden Black, producer and host of "Good Night Burbank"; John Hamm, co-founder and chief executive of USTREAM.TV; Roger Jackson, executive producer, the Annenberg Foundation; Loic Le Meur, founder of Seesmic; Rishi Malik, product marketing manager at Qik.com; Ron Ploof, OC New Media and creator of Synopsys TV; Mark Rotblat, director of marketing for TubeMogul.com; Cody Simms, senior director at Yahoo!; and Brian Solis, executive producer of bub.blicio.us.

"Organizations are scrambling to figure out how to integrate online video into their marketing, public relations and community outreach efforts," said Karen North, director of The Charles Annenberg Weingarten Program in Online Communities at USC. "This conference is designed to give public relations, corporate communications and marketing professionals a better understanding of how to integrate online video into their communications initiatives."

comScore reports that 11.5 billion video clips were viewed online in the United States in March 2008 alone. As more Americans look to the Web for television programming, organizations producing original content are competing directly with networks and other broadcasters for attention. With so many clips to choose from, online videos are effective only if people actually want to watch them.

The conference will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2008. REDCAT is located in the Walt Disney Concert Hall complex. Conference details and registration are available online at http://www.ipressroom.com/onlinevideo.
