FHLBank Names Advisory Council Appointees


CINCINNATI, Dec. 16, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The board of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati (FHLBank) has appointed two new members to its 2009 Advisory Council (Council) and reappointed four members. The 15-member Council provides guidance to the board and staff on housing needs and programs that will enhance the FHLBank's affordable housing and economic development programs in its Fifth District territory of Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee. All appointments are three-year terms, effective January 1, 2009:

Cecil Dunn is Executive Director, the HOPE Centers and HOPE Recovery Center, Lexington, Kentucky. The HOPE Centers and HOPE Recovery Center provide services for homeless men and women, and individuals with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders in Lexington. Mr. Dunn served on the Advisory Council from 1999 to 2007. During that period, he served two terms as Chair of the Council.

Chris McCarthy is President and CEO, Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity (NAHFH). Ms. McCarthy joined Nashville Habitat in 2002 following a career in private industry, was named CEO in 2004 and president and CEO in 2005. Under Chris's leadership, the NAHFH's budget has grown five times in size in five years of operation, and NAHFH won Habitat for Humanity International's Affiliate of the Year Award in 2003.

Reappointed to the Advisory Council are:


   * Stacey D. Epperson, Executive Director of Frontier Housing Inc.
     of Morehead, Kentucky. Ms. Epperson began serving on the Advisory
     Council in 2006.
   * Steven Gladman, President, The Affordable Housing Trust for
     Columbus and Franklin County, Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Gladman was
     appointed in 2008, to fill the remainder of a three-year term
     that began January 1, 2006.
   * Mark K. Milligan, President of the Affordable Housing Trust for
     Columbus and Franklin County in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Milligan
     began serving on the Advisory Council in 2006.
   * Susan E. Weaver, Executive Director and CEO of Community Housing
     Network, Inc. in Columbus, Ohio. Ms. Weaver began serving on the
     Advisory Council in 2006.

The FHLBank is a $97 billion congressionally-chartered wholesale regional bank providing financial services for residential housing and economic development to 725 member financial institutions located in Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee. It has contributed $295 million for the creation of 46,404 units of lower-income housing through its Affordable Housing Program since 1990, and $9 million to help 1,108 persons become first-time homebuyers through the American Dream Homeownership Challenge. The FHLBank System includes 12 district Banks, is wholly owned by its 8,100 member institution stockholders and does not use taxpayer dollars.
