Canyon Acres Receives $10,000 Gift From the California Foundation for Stronger Communities

ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif., May 12, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canyon Acres Children and Family Services, a charity organization committed to providing homes, care, treatment and supportive services for abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children and their families, today announced it has received a $10,000 gift from the California Foundation for Stronger Communities (CFSC). Canyon Acres will use the funds to serve more children in its vital Wraparound and Creating Family Connections programs.

"This is a wonderful gift for the children of Canyon Acres," said Clete Menke, President of Canyon Acres. "The agency relies more and more on tangible community support from organizations like CFSC, and funds enable Canyon Acres to continue delivering on its mission to provide hope, love and care to the children and families who need it most."

CFSC acts as the board of directors for the California Municipal Finance Authority (CMFA). The CMFA is a joint-powers authority created to spur economic development and charitable activity throughout the state. With the goal of giving back to California communities, the CMFA issues taxable and tax-exempt funding to local governments, non-profits and businesses to improve the state's standard of living.

Canyon Acres' Wraparound services literally help families in crisis become "wrapped" by the community, helping children avoid the trauma of being removed from their homes. Wraparound Services also helps families become safe, healthy and self-sustaining. Creating Family Connections searches for and engages long-lost family members of children who have been in the child welfare system for many years, offering a family connection that gives children a sense of belonging and hope.

"Canyon Acres provides pivotal, cutting-edge services to the children and families in our community," said Ed Becker, Chairman of the Board for CFSC. "We are honored to help the agency achieve its mission."
