DCC Chosen to Expand Crisis Communications Capabilities of Washington County, Utah, Emergency Services
| Source: Dialogic Communications Corp.
FRANKLIN, TN--(Marketwire - July 21, 2009) - For Washington County, Utah, Emergency
Services, the use of emergency notification technology will soon play a key
role in securing the safety of the area's 137,000+ residents during all
types of contingencies. The system, known as The Communicator!® NXT™,
and provided by Dialogic Communications
Corp. (DCC), a PlantCML®
company, is scheduled to be in service within 60-90 days.
Selected for its comprehensive crisis communications capabilities and
long-standing reputation in the public safety sector, The Communicator! NXT will give
Washington County officials the ability to mobilize personnel, including
first responders, local authorities, Neighborhood Watch groups and others
in a matter of minutes. The application's map-driven component, GeoCast®
Web™, will enable immediate notification of local residents, rapidly
providing information or instruction to those inside targeted geographic
areas. Proposed uses include inclement weather, hazardous materials spills
and missing persons.
"We carefully studied the various competing technologies and platforms
before electing to purchase The Communicator! NXT from DCC," said Dean Cox,
Washington County's Administrator and Emergency Services Director.
The Communicator! NXT and GeoCast Web will utilize telephone lines and
infrastructure inside the county's St. George facility to deliver
notifications throughout the department and across 2500+ square miles.
Officials will also be able to offload communications to DCC's remote
hosting center, providing them additional calling capacity and full
redundancy of the two systems if needed. An inbound "bulletin board" will
give local residents automated, 24/7 access to other information, including
status updates, by simply dialing a specific telephone number.
"This is truly a collaborative effort," added Cox. "We are making
preparations now for its deployment. Although the purchase is being
orchestrated through the county, several other agencies and jurisdictions
are teaming with us to bring this project to fruition. Our next plan is to
complete the list of scenarios we will build within the system."
"We are thrilled to work with the fine team at Washington County Emergency
Services," said Scott Alfieri, DCC president. "It is an honor and a
privilege to add their name to our long and growing list of public safety
customers."
Utilized extensively throughout the public safety sector, The
Communicator!® NXT™ fully automates list-based notification
procedures. It intelligently alerts and assembles key personnel via every
possible means (e.g., telephone, cell, email, etc.), filling critical
positions based on an individual's availability, certifications, skills,
etc. GeoCast Web adds map-based functionality, allowing users to identify
specific geographic areas requiring communication utilizing digital,
street-level maps.
