SILVER SPRING, Md., Oct. 15, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This year marks the 15th anniversary of the enactment of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and Paula Zahn, host and executive producer of Investigation Discovery's ON THE CASE WITH PAULA ZAHN, is joining the Department of Justice's campaign to commemorate this historic legislation. In recognition of VAWA's anniversary, DOJ's Office on Violence Against Women has announced a year-long effort to raise public awareness; build stronger coalitions among federal, state, local and tribal communities; and redouble the country's efforts to end domestic and dating violence, sexual assault and stalking against men, women and children.
To kick off support of the DOJ's commemorative initiatives, Zahn and Investigation Discovery have produced a public service announcement promoting the National Teen Dating Abuse Hotline at 866-331-9474 and online resources available at LoveIsRespect.org. Investigation Discovery, America's leading investigation network, will air Zahn's PSA on a regular schedule starting with primetime placement following the world premiere of ON THE CASE WITH PAULA ZAHN on Sunday, October 18 from 10-11 PM ET. Zahn will additionally support the DOJ's Office on Violence Against Women's efforts by adding her name to a growing list of public figures who are working to end violence against women, and showcasing the anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act in her outreach to audiences nationally.
