ACPM to Host Free Educational Webinar on Lifestyle and Worksite Wellness

EHE International Sponsors Important Webcast for Employers and Consumers

NEW YORK, Jan. 19, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM), supported by an educational grant from EHE International, is hosting a live, national webinar on lifestyle medicine for those involved in employee health and wellness programs.

The interactive program called, "Lifestyle Medicine Approaches to Effective Employer Health and Wellness Initiatives," will air on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm ET. The webinar is free and open to the public.

EHE International endorsed the physician competencies for lifestyle medicine as outlined in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) last summer and is in full support of ACPM's webinar to help educate and improve the health of all workers.

"This webcast will provide employers with the information they need to broaden their understanding and awareness of the importance of lifestyle medicine and how these newly established physician competencies can become a part of their employee wellness programs," said Jack Segerdahl, Executive Vice President at EHE International.

The program will feature a panel of experts in the field of lifestyle medicine and workplace wellness and will cover topics including: how the physician competencies can translate and be integrated with employee wellness programs, steps employers can take to promote the physician-patient dialog around lifestyle interventions, prescriptions and action plans, and resources employers and others can use and share to improve medical care and health promotion practices.

The expert panel includes:

  • Liana Lianov, MD, MPH, FACPM – Moderator
Assistant Professor, Departments of Public Health Sciences and Internal Medicine, University of California Davis, Sacramento, California

  • Dexter W. Shurney, MD, MBA, MPH
