Fairplex Offers TLC to the Community Year-Round

The Learning Centers at Fairplex Sponsors Educational, Engaging Programs for All Ages

POMONA, CA--(Marketwire - May 11, 2011) - Fairplex hosts hundreds of events and activities every year, but a permanent fixture serving the entire community all year long is The Learning Centers at Fairplex. The nonprofit organization offers free and low-cost educational programs for everyone -- from infants and preschoolers through high school age and adults for a lifetime of learning that's always fun!

The Child Development Center (CDC) serves the community, providing an interactive learning environment for the youngest learners and their parents with a safe and nurturing experience. And thanks to its long-time partner, the University of La Verne, the CDC serves as a teaching lab for students studying child development.

For all ages, there's Fairtime Education, which provides curriculum on a variety of subjects during the L.A. County Fair and sponsors tens of thousands of students and teachers from neighboring school districts to encourage interactive field trips and inspire a love of learning.

To prepare the next generation of leaders, the Junior Fair Board Scholarship Program provides leadership opportunities and scholarships to high school students to teach leadership, career exploration, community involvement and foster college goals. The Learning Centers also support young adult education through the Career and Technical Education Center and its "learning without walls" philosophy, preparing students with hands-on training for careers in everything from hospitality and business to environmental studies and the arts.

Fairplex even boasts its own art gallery -- the Millard Sheets Center for the Arts (MSCA). In addition to its exhibits at the L.A. County Fair, MSCA offers art education programs with tours, workshops and lectures given by artists and curators.

If that weren't enough, Fairplex is expanding even further with its new 85,000 square foot Sheraton Fairplex Conference Center opening in late fall 2011. This expansive, multi-use compound will house the existing Sheraton Fairplex Hotel along with a new high-tech conference center comprised of interactive seminar rooms as well as spacious exhibit and banquet halls for many kinds of events, particularly suitable for academic activities such as educational symposiums and university association meetings.

The Sheraton Fairplex Conference Center is located in the 543-acre Fairplex campus, home of the L.A. County Fair and The Learning Centers. Visit www.fairplex.com for up-to-date details.
