TORONTO--(Marketwire - Apr 2, 2012) - Sigma Systems, an industry leader in OSS solutions for delivery of Converged Broadband Services solutions, today announced it has completed the deployment of its Device Provisioning Manager (DPM) for WOW! Internet, Cable and Phone, a top 20 cable provider. Sigma's DPM enables the provisioning of the new WOW! ULTRA TV service, a true whole-home multimedia entertainment experience.
With Sigma's DPM, WOW! can easily manage the orchestration of customer entitlements across multiple device types needed to deliver services via the ARRIS Moxi® Gateway to connected devices within the home, including HD DVR, DOCSIS® 3.0 data service, VoIP, media sharing ability, MoCA connectivity and in-home WiFi routing. DPM provides centralized IP management, allowing service providers to quickly create new device configuration templates, which accelerates the delivery of new services. Sigma's DPM also offers a centralized system status and device health monitoring tool, which troubleshoots access devices and supports carrier-class reliability.
"At WOW! we understand that our customers' needs are always changing, so it is imperative that we select the technology solutions and partners that give us the flexibility we need to quickly and cost-effectively introduce new services," said Cash Hagen, Chief Technology Officer at WOW!. "Sigma Systems has been a long term technology partner to WOW!, so we were confident that its DPM solution would perform as promised, and that the team would provide the 100% delivery assurance we needed to be successful."
Sigma's Customer Enablement team worked closely with WOW! and its technology partners to manage the deployment of the Device Provisioning Manager. The Sigma Product team also collaborated with WOW! and ARRIS to develop and integrate the capabilities required to provision and manage provisioning of customer entitlements across these feature-rich gateways and ensure a seamless experience for WOW! subscribers.
"WOW! has long been considered a pioneer in the delivery of advanced communications services. With the launch of ULTRA TV, they are taking their multimedia offering to new levels, and demonstrating how service providers can leverage the delivery of OTT content to give customers what they want and maintain their loyalty," said Tim Spencer, President and COO at Sigma Systems.
Sigma's Device Provisioning Manager (DPM)
Sigma's DPM enables NGOs to rapidly provision multiple subscriber services in a multi-vendor, multi-device type environment, by assigning different classes of services, per service and per subscriber. This provisioning activity is performed by dynamically generating device configuration files which are automatically delivered to the CPE device, regardless of access protocol.
The Device Provisioning Manager is a cost-effective solution for subscriber bases of all sizes. It can be deployed as a standalone product operating on a single server with a redundant server for failover purposes for a small subscriber base. For larger subscriber bases, or as the service provider grows, DPM can be distributed among several servers, where the core installed platform functionality and provisioning servers are in separate servers, with centralized definition and control from the core activation server.
Orchestrating Device Entitlements
Sigma's DPM automatically and dynamically configures, upgrades, and provisions these processes, mapping the subscribers' identity and their entitlements to all video platforms and devices connected to the customer premise equipment (CPE), such as set-top boxes.
