Murray Camens Joins TEAGUE as Vice President of Aviation


SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - Jun 13, 2012) - Seattle-based design consultancy TEAGUE today announced that Murray Camens, formerly vice president and head of operations at Philips Design, will join TEAGUE as the company's vice president of aviation, reporting to CEO John Barratt. Ken Dowd, who has served in this role for the past 13 years, will retire at the end of December.

At Philips Design Camens was responsible for program and project management, resource and supply management and location management for nine locations in Europe, the United States and Asia Pacific. He joined Philips in 1980 as a designer for domestic appliances in Groningen. His experience at Philips included long stints in Holland, Singapore and Hong Kong, where he built and managed diverse, multi-disciplinary design teams for both the B2C and B2B categories of consumer lifestyle, healthcare and lighting.

Camens started his professional career in 1977 with London-based design consultancy Conran Associates. At Conran his design experience ranged from conceptual car design for Renault; yacht interiors for Westerly Marine; a kitchen range for Woolworth; to in-store display systems for Yardley and Levi's.

During his career Camens has been named inventor on 16 United States patents and is the recipient of numerous design awards in the United States, Europe and Asia. From 2006-2009 he was an adjunct professor in the School of Design at Hong Kong's Polytechnic University. Originally from Australia, Camens studied Product Design at the University of South Australia.
