FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 11, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Netherlands-based maritime services firm Svitzer Salvage Americas Inc. has signed a 22,961-square-foot storage warehouse lease for a strategic operations center in Dania Beach, FL, announced Morris Southeast Group/CORFAC International Principal Ken Morris, SIOR.
Morris represented Svitzer Salvage in the five-year lease for two adjacent bays located at Broward International Commerce Center (BICC), 345-349 N. Bryan Road, Building 500 in Dania Beach, FL. The company intends to use the space as a storage warehouse for its salvage operations and occupancy is projected for September 2012.
Dania Beach is south of Ft. Lauderdale, north of Hollywood and about 22 miles from Miami. Specific terms of the lease could not be revealed but Morris said that "the deal package provided to Svitzer was attractive enough for them choose the BICC property over 11 other locations that we evaluated nearby. In addition, the two bay units under one roof are at the corner of the building and have the type of loading docks they required," he said.
Morris believes that this is Svitzer Salvage's first salvage warehouse/operations center for the North American continent.
"Svitzer liked the location because it hit all three of its primary objectives of port access, airport proximity and convenience for employees from the tri-county area to get to work," Morris said.
The ports include Port Everglades in Broward (County), Port of Miami in Miami-Dade (County) and the Port of Palm Beach (in Palm Beach County), while Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport is fewer than five miles away.
