HealthLeaders Media Round on August 9th to Dive Into Strategies for Hospitals Seeking to Build Women's Health Service Line

Hosted by the North Shore-LIJ Health System in New York, Live Event Available for Participation by Either In-Person or Virtual Attendance

DANVERS, Mass., July 17, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HealthLeaders Media, a division of HCPro, Inc., today announced that the North Shore-LIJ Health System will host a unique half-day program designed to educate hospital and health system executives about how they can re-invent their women's health service line to meet evolving patient demands.

The event is part of a series of HealthLeaders Media Rounds focused on various topics of concern to hospitals and health systems nationwide. It will be held at the North Shore-LIJ's Katz Institute for Women's Health in New York City, on August 9, 2012, from Noon to 3 p.m. Eastern Time.

The live event, "A Comprehensive Women's Health Service Line: Lessons from North Shore-LIJ," can be attended either in person or by logging into a live webcast. The special guest speakers include some of the hospital's most senior executives: Adiel Fleischer, MD, Chairman of Obstetrics/Gynecology, North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) and LIJ Medical Center; Jennifer Mieres, MD, Senior Vice President, Office of Community and Public Health, North Shore-LIJ Health System; and Stacey E. Rosen, MD, FACC, FACP, Associate Chair of Cardiology, North Shore-LIJ Health System.

The North Shore-LIJ Health System is the nation's second-largest, non-profit, secular healthcare system, and cares for people of all ages throughout Long Island, Queens, and Staten Island -- a service area encompassing more than 5 million people. The system founded the Katz Institute for Women's Health.

"Women present fundamentally different symptoms for everything from heart attack to stroke than men, yet the clinical programs at many hospitals are not well-positioned to take these differences into account," said Jim Molpus, strategic relationships director at HealthLeaders Media. "Moreover, women differ from men in significant ways as consumers of health care services. In just a few hours, participants in this program will learn directly from leaders at North Shore-LIJ, founders of the Katz Institute for Women's Health, how to position their women's health programs to meet evolving physician and patient demands."

According to Molpus, attendees of the event will learn how to:

  • Plan, build, and operate a women's health center of excellence;
  • Move beyond OB/GYN to offer programs tailored for women in cardiology, neurology, endocrinology, radiology, urology and rheumatology;
  • Teach each hospital department to refer, communicate and coordinate for the benefit of women; and
  • Build community education programs tailored to women's health needs and concerns.

The rate to participate in the program is $399 for individual attendees. For more information about the event or to register, please go to http://www.healthleadersmedia.com/rounds/.
