Two more world records set on Mondotrack at London Olympic Games

LONDON, Aug. 11, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mondotrack was the surface for two more world records at the 2012 London Olympic Games, both in 4x100-meter relays.

Friday night, Tianna Madison, Allyson Felix, Bianca Knight and Carmelita Jeter of the U.S. ran the 400-meter relay in a spectacular 40.82 seconds to break a record set by an East German team in 1985.

On Saturday, Jamaica's Usain Bolt teamed with Nesta Carter, Michael Frater and Yohan Black to capture a gold medal in the men's 4x100-meter relay and establish a new world record of 36.84, shaving two-tenths of a second off of the previous world record of 37.04.

Earlier this week, Kenya's David Rudisha set a world record in the 800 meters with a time of 1:40.91.

Made by Mondo, the global leader in the sport flooring market, Mondotrack was designed for superior athletic performance. It provides the optimum blend of speed, safety and comfort for both high-speed competition and training.

Mondotrack is Mondo's newest track surface. It builds on the success of the company's world-renowned Super X Performance track, which was the world's top track for more than 30 years and was an official track of eight Olympic Games through 2004. Mondotrack provides optimal traction and a greater contact area than other tracks. It converts the maximum amount of force generated by athletes' foot strikes to energy for maximum energy return, which helps athletes achieve faster times compared to running on other surfaces

More than 230 world records have been set on tracks made by Mondo, including three during the London Games and five at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Mondotrack also was the competition surface in Beijing.
